I’ve always liked reading traffic reports on other blogs, so here are some from Leafy Greens.
I published the first post on the site in mid-December 2014. In January the site had 1,981 page views – way more than I expected, but almost exactly where I set the monthly goal. Go figure.
In February, the blog had 3,280 page views. I was shooting for 3,600, but I got distracted by my day job and February is short! Goal for March: 5,000 page views.
In March I realized that by setting traffic goals I was ruining my fun (by mid-month I was at 3,000 visits and thinking hard about how to reach 5,000!) and I had made my hobby into another job. I took about two months off and hardly looked at the blog. Then in June I realized I was missing sharing my favourite recipes and taking photos.
Big Picture Goals
If I’m able to over time grow the site traffic to a level that makes it attractive to advertisers, I plan to direct income to the International Humane Society. The Humane Society is a voice for animals, with programs for companion animals, wildlife and habitat protection, marine mammal preservation and farm animal welfare.
Here’s our Luke doing some yoga on one of the first sunny days of the year.
And here’s Nigella doing a little work with Indigo. We found Nigella hiding in a parking lot as a kitten. She was covered in dirt and oil, with twigs stuck to her. We grabbed a towel out of our vehicle to wrap her up in, thinking she might be scared and scratch, but she had given up. She laid quietly in my arms, probably thinking anything would be better than being lost on the streets. She had to have two baths to get all that junk out of her long fur and it took two years before she trusted us enough to cuddle, but she’s a sweetie now.
If you like animals too, you can make the blog attractive to advertisers by joining my email list and following along on your favourite social media. Leafy Greens and Chocolate is on Facebook, Pinterest, Instagram, Google+, and Twitter.
